Meaning: must not, cannot afford to, can’t very well
“because a certain state of mind exist, ~cannot be done”. Not used to mean that something cannot be done for reason of inability, but indicates that although the speaker wishes to act ~ , he is held back by fear of offending social norms, or by personal reservations. The subject is usually the first person.
Formation:
動辞書形+わけに(は)いかない・~わけに(も)いかない。

- I can’t take a rest tomorrow because I have an important exam.
