Meaning: this is not the time/occasion for; …is out of the question, (strongly emphatic) too preoccupied or busy to even think of … ; not the time for; not the place for;
It is used to express that something is not up to certain level but actually it is more than that.
Formation:
動普通形＋どころではない・どころか
イ形い＋どころではない・どころか
ナ形だーな・である＋どころではない・どころか
名・ 名だーである＋どころではない・どころか
Example sentences:
- 鼻水が出るので風邪かなと思っていたが、ただの風邪どころではなく、肺炎だった。
- Hanamizu ga deru node kaze ka na to omotte itaga, tada no kaze dokorode wa naku, haiendatta.
- I thought I had a cold because I had a runny nose, but I had pneumonia, not just a cold.
